Amárach Research, a market research company was responsible for the market research around the DTT public trial. 500 trial participants were chosen and face to face surveys were conducted every three months. There were 250 participants in each of the coverage areas and participants were chosen as representative of the broader TV viewing population.
Participants were asked numerous questions allowing a profile of the panel to be constructed and an understanding of their experiences and perceptions of DTT in the form that was delivered by the trial.

- level of satisfaction with DTT trial broadcasts and receiver function
- viewing habits including preferred stations and programme content
- initial expections from DTT and the extent to which these were met
